Urban-Bounding

Mexico City is plagued with urban boundaries caused by its economic inequality, programmatic voids and general over population. These inherently negatives circumstances for the erection of such boundaries, in an already over saturated urban fabric, directed my research to the people in the areas affected by these demarcations. Surprisingly enough the people in these areas welcome the boundary and see it as a driver for urban life to prosper. This project aims to exaggerate the thickness of the boundary so that it acts as a buffer for the encroaching city while being able to contain all the needs of the surrounding population. The interior of the boundary houses a convoluted network of carved out programs that look out towards a now protected wildlife sanctuary. It is the goal of this new urban boundary to create a positive juxtaposition between its two sides rather than an inside or outside.
